I did a similar fix. Ace Hardware sells that silver insulated material and I bought a piece and cut to fit the skylight frame. Then I edged it with duct tape and placed a couple of the 3M white hooks around the frame. The cover slides in nicely when you want to cut the heat and removes when you want the light.
