I would not be to be concerned at all. The orange or black coating is just to protect objects from rubbing and eventually fraying the braid. The braid is what actually keeps the hose from expanding and rupturing under hydraulic pressure. Only thing I would do is cover the worn areas exposing the braid with a couple of wraps of Gorilla tape.
