Qwerky furnace
I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what is wrong with my furnace. It has been intermittently failing to light. Then the next time it would light right up. I could hear the striker clicking, stop, start again, stop, then the blower turns off.
During this cycle, I took the cover off outside while it was trying to fire up. What I found was that the wire from the source to the striker in the furnace was sparking to the exhaust pipe. So that means the wire has cracked like an old spark plug wire. Current finds the path of least resistance. Replacing the wire solved the problem.
