Dave, I would think a receipt from a scale showing trailer weight would suffice to show the amount of weight you are towing.
Sunnyside, my external trans temp gauge sender is mounted in the line coming out of the transmission, headed to the cooler. That's just one possibility for you. No need to drop the pan.
