Well, we've although we've put covers on the steps as we always have, brush, sweep, vacuum there is zero way to keep sand from coming inside. For us, because we spend so much time in FL and our camp is literally beach sand, it is a fact of life. It wasn't a big issue with the non fold in steps but these sometimes pose a problem....but, we wouldn't trade them simply due to the increased stability. Friction door has gotten tight a time or 2 but we far prefer it to the old "swing away" door. Just takes a little getting used to.
those fold out steps wouldn't work for me anyway since mine is stored in a pole building. Not enough room to deploy them. I have the glow steps. They work great. I like the concept of the friction hinge, but don't like how hard it is to move. I'm shur the wife would bitch about that.
