Truck shoppers may want to be aware of a recent Safety Recall on some new 2020 trucks, and how Ford handled it. The recall directly reduced GVWR and GAWR 78-900 lbs.

Ford's solution to this is simply: we'll replace your placards to the reduced weight ratings, and go forth and prosper (or crash, as the case may be). They don't tell you any specifics for the reasons on your specific rig, just "here's your new placards; good luck with that".

I've been Ford for several decades, but this gives me true pause.

Attached is a safety report on the Recall, and a lawsuit that's been filed over it.

This post in is interests of giving information to those who are considering a new truck. Apparently it is not all sealed on the purchase. Your pre-purchase calculations may not mean much in the end for a Ford.
