I go by when the toilet starts burping when flushing to know it is full so I know it is. I follow up with 5 gallons of water. I only open black tank when dumping. I am guessing the diagram by @Mikendebbie is more likely the issue. Problem is we are seasonal with big family so I really do not want to clear up insides so slides can come in to raise the front end every few days
