We don't have a gen, so we don't use LP as fast, but here's how I work it. Part of my morning routine is to check the indicator on the regulator to be sure it hasn't switched over and get an idea how much is left in the primary tank. If it's empty or very close I switch over and get the empty refilled in the next day or so, depending on weather. With the gen a third tank might be a good idea, so how things work before you jump.
