You've brought up an issue that some of us have run into around the 2010 timeframe when going to steel stems. Yes, what causes "parade rest" on the install is the hole recess in the OEM aluminum wheels is not big enough to get a socket down in to tighten any nut. I and others have gone with the Enkei style valve stems which are designed to hold from the inside of the wheel. Here's a
