One of the things the chart does not consider is the engine. The diesel is much heavier than the gasser, so for a diesel, the tow rating is higher and the cargo capacity is lower. Normally, diesel 250/2500 trucks are over weight not because of the tow capacity but due to the lack of cargo capacity. I've had a salesman give me the cargo capacity of a gasser...high...and the tow rating of a diesel...also high.
