If you wire the camera to operate 100% of the time, it makes sense that it would drain the battery after a while. Many people wire the camera to the backup lights of the Monty so that it is on only when you are backing. Others chose to wire the camera to the running lights so that it is on any time the running lights are on. This approach would be useful if you want to monitor what is going on behind you while on the road. I wired my camera to the backup lights.
