We like to take just the front half of the stove cover off to use the front burner. That leaves counter top behind that-we use an electric skillet there (camp electricity is much cheaper than propane.). As for the sink covers, she put rubber feet on them so when they are set on the counter they don't scratch it. She always puts the covers back on when not using the sink. We've found that they stand on edge on the floor near the stove and out of the way.
