Hi Charlie,
Unless you can hook up a water softener there is no way to prevent this. I bet rain-x would help though, it sure can't hurt to give it a try.
Like the last person said squegee it off, or what we do is the last one to take a shower it's their job to wipe down the entire shower with a towell. I make sure I'm up first, make the coffee and shower. I never get stuck wipeing it off.
