I replaced our king mattress with a queen and did not have a problem. I sawed 6" off each side of the plywood that supports the mattress. I just rolled up the existing king mattress and carried it out. The new queen mattress was about 10" thick and I just pushed and shoved it into the trailer by myself. DW was upset that I did not wait for her help but it was rather a simple procedure to get it in to the trailer. Good luck.
