We have a Splendide Combo unit and wouldn't be without it. I grew up camping with my parents and still have vivid memories of the many hours we wasted in laundromats all over the country waiting for the clothes to wash and dry rather than actually camping or sightseeing. Sometimes the laundromats were clean and safe, but many times they weren't.
Although you have to wash smaller loads with the Splendide combo than you do with a stick-and-brick set, I have grown to love it, especially the ease of tossing in a load to wash and dry automatically without my having to babysit with it. I initially didn't want to spend the money for the unit, but I am now glad that my husband talked me into doing so.
