That is an EXREAMLY dangerous situation that you have created. Having hot male lugs can and will hurt/kill someone. Your really need to install at least a manual transfer switch to chose between the 2 connection points so there is no possibility of them both being hot at the same time.

What if the door to the unused connection point (that is HOT ) is opened up by a child and they are electrocuted. Can you live with that ?
