I would at least use a cheap 20 micron inline filter for the whole rig. You don't know the quality of water from most campgrounds, so it's good insurance to prevent problems with plumbing, fixtures and appliances.
We don't drink campground water, only bottled water, so the 20 micron inline is all I use. At around $15.00 for 6 months, it's relatively cheap.
