All the Electric Awning Mfrs will tell you not to, but if you use common sense you can tie down an electric awning. Have been doing it on all three fivers we've had.
I extend the awning all the way, install my tie downs so they are just snug, then I retract the awning to put a little extra tension on it.
Now, if heavy weather or winds are expected I pull them in.
