They say you can never have too much tow vehicle and there is some truth in that. If I were full-timing across the country, I would definitely go with that perspective. However, for a part-timer like me there are other factors. I can get a 3/4 ton in my garage, but not a dually. The garage keeps my truck out of the weather and more secure. Since I'm just going to local lakes on the weekend, a 3/4 ton meets my weight requirements (pin weight is almost always the most restricting weight to watch on a 3/4 ton), but also allows me more freedom when trailer free (parking, drive-throughs, etc.). It all comes down to use, weights, and personal preferences.
