I did the two slices of plywood and a 2X6 thing as well but I used a double articulating arm so I could swing it WAY out to get into the cabinet behind it. The whole project took only 3 or 4 hours. (It would have been quicker but I had help.)
If I ever get my monty back I'll post some pictures.
