I have used the remote to open and close the slides since i bought the new Monty, the beauty of the remote is that you can operate it inside or outside, you can stop and start as you see the need and you can walk around to ensure you are clear of any obstacles. I often set up the camp by myself and IMHO using the inside control does not cut it.

I use the remote each time I hook up to the Monty to raise or lower the front to match up with the hitch, it is again a one man operation and I am comfortable doing the set up myself. If you put things away properly you are unlikely to have items get caught in the slides when extending or retracting them.

Whatever one is comfortable with I guess, when I do it myself I know what has been done and what has not been done, and have never had a problem over several years.
