You can not be too careful when checking to be sure nothing is in the way of the slide movement. Even if you are inside the coach, something can be in the way and you won't know it if you are not very careful about where you stow items before traveling. We check what we can see but the far end of two slides are not accessible when they are closed. Listening for bad sounds helps but is not foolproof. Generally speaking, if I'm sure there is sufficient clearance outside for the slides to deploy, I operate them from inside.
