Just go thru the park and west to W. Yellowstone. Maybe a little slow but I think a lot shorter.
I have been thru Yellowstone many times and I have actually gone thru the park from Cody and then south while heading to the Utah border. I went thru the pass west of Jackson and it WAS steep, but I was going mostly downhill (East). Saw a young couple with an open small trailer behind an old pickup pulled off to the side with smoke rolling out of the overheated brakes. They were camping in Yellowstone and I doubt they had the money to spare for new brakes. Felt sorry for them.
