I was reading through this thread and was wondering if you figured out the reason for the smaller wire. I have the same setup in my 2018 Montana and was planning to install the 80 AMP breaker tomorrow. Not sure what to do about the extra wire, except to just hook it up in the same configuration to the new breaker. The smaller wire runs through a red connector that says "30 AMPS" on it.
