We used them while cable splicing. Inside of phone cables it is wrapped with metal sheath. Makes you able to grab a hold of it to pull it open and not lose any fingers. The gloves we had would not have stopped fangs but that kevlar stuff is pretty amazing stuff. As far as the legless critters I think I would find a different hobby lol lol...
