When we bought the ice-maker, I stored it in the basement on the curb side. That became it's home. I clear space for the ventilation before I use it and just run it there. Just enough room to access the ice tray and add water. If I'm really anxious to build a bucket of ice, I move it over to the laundry chute access so I can offload it without going outside.
