I had similar stains as you describe on my ceiling. After checking it out more closely I thought they were a discoloring of a putty the factory may have used to fill staple or nail holes when the ceiling was attached. I don't know if this is the case or not or if there are any staples that attaches the ceiling to the trusses. I was able to clean some of my spots by just using a sponge. Knowing me I probably used a little dish soap or something else on the sponge. JB
