The key to the statement above is if the "damage is due to your modification". If they refuse warranty work without a positive connection (proof), then they can't refuse to pay. So even if they can extract info from the computer, there would have to be a direct correlation to the problem.

I had a microtuner chip on my 99 Ford and I loved it - about 1 mpg better mileage towing and 2 mpg solo, and a ton more HP and torque. But there is no way I would use it on my 2005 (yet) because it's still under warranty, and I don't want to chance it.
