These new trucks were actually designed to run on 50 cetane. A friend who has a tester for cetane checked fuel here and found some that was 37. An engine running on 50 cetane will produce less soot than one using 40 cetane fuel. So your truck will go into regen less often. Another big advantage to using an additive is they have lubrication in them that your high pressure fuel pump needs. It don't much to ruin a pump that will pump up to 30,000 psi. Your warranty normally wont cover the $8.000+ to replace it. To me the additive is cheap insurance.
