When my wife worked for the City of Pontiac, I learned this from their 'animal division'. Rodents (rats, mice and squirrels) all like peanut butter and chocolate. Based on that, perhaps you should use Reese's cups.
Just make sure the traps are in a tight spot I can't get into!
