It appears there may be confusion here. On searches there are 2 Eagle Rest (or Eagles Rest). One on highway 64 East of Taos near Cimarron, and one SW of Taos. I was speaking of the one on highway 64.
I just checked pictures of that stretch. There are some 20mph hairpin curves, many S curves, many hills and little straight stretches. However, there is some gorgeous scenery. If you are experienced in mountainous driving, this is a very scenic route. If you are at all squeamish about narrow and curvey, it may not be for you. Oh,by narrow, I just mean there is no wide shoulders, etc; but the road is a standard width state highway.
