You really have to plan ahead, don't think SSI will give you enough unless you live on a "Self Sufficient Farm". I was putting the max percent into a 401K for over 32 years and the last few years when the Gov increased the limits I was putting in 1/3 of my gross into the account. Now with my Minimum Required Distribution and both of our SSI we do pretty much we want to without much money worries.
