We have a 2006 Dodge 3500 SWB with 65K miles, and the Cummins 5.9 (before the smog stuff). We also had the same experience as Steve, we tested the math vs. the computer and the computer gave us about 1/10th of a mile advantage. We now only use the computer.
The fuel mileage and power have both improved with time. The other day, we got 19.6 after about 10 gallons of fuel consumptiton without towing. While towing, the averages change quite a bit because of all the variables, like wind, hills, weight, heat...etc. We have had as high as 14.7 mpg and as low as 10.9 mpg while towing.
