My 2005 had a cap on the fresh water tank drain line. My 2012 Montana has a valve just above the hose thread end. That way you can attach a hose and direct the output somewhere besides the ground underneath the RV.

There has to be something to stop the tank from draining, particularly if your hose ends with a threaded bib.
