GAS STRUTS FOR BED LIFT

About a month ago I replaced the gas struts for the bed lift on a relative's 20+ year old motor home. For a while now the gas springs/struts for our bed lift have been marginal. I even resorted to having a pole under the bed to hold it up when we needed to get under there. The stock springs were only 80 lbs. each and after replacing the stock mattress with a residential one, we definitely needed more power Well I went to the same website where I got the replacements for the motor home to get replacements for ours. The website is Moore Industrial Hardware. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted so I called them and talked to a very nice lady, Christina, and told her what I needed. I gave her the 3 different lengths of the spring. Extended length (20 in), compressed length (12 in) and stroke length (8 in), and the type of end fitting which on ours is socket vs. a blade. I also told her I wanted to go with a higher rated spring of a least 100 lbs. She told me the model number I needed (SL-34-100) and also emailed me some pages from their catalog so I could make my final decision. I opted for the 100 lb. springs.

I received them via UPS on Tuesday and installed them the same day. They are a direct replacement and the difference is like night and day. I still have the pole under the bed, but won't be needing to use it any more. The total cost for 2 springs with shipping was only $34.50. Probably could have gone with 120 lb. springs, but these are fine. Here is a link to the webpage with all the different spring capacities for my particular application: SL-34 Gas Spring.

If you need replacement struts, check them out
