Thanks for the info. We did indeed have the little toggle switch and tried to switch over to electric. We waited hours but the water never heated up. DH checked the voltage and it was getting 120v. DH suspects that either the contacts may be corroded or the sacrificial anode may be gone. In order to check those things he needs to spray on a "liquid wrench" type product because he can't loosed the lugs. He hasn't had a chance to do that yet so we switched back to gas. He will be trying it this week. BTW there was water in the tank so he is sure that we didn't burn out the element when he turned it on. Finding replacement parts will be difficult and we might wait until we get to Goshen. I'll keep you posted.
