There a lot of posts that I would like to thank, and I do occasionally send out the thanks, but that doesn't let others know that I thanked that person. The reason that's important is because if multiple people have thanked someone for a post, it lends a little more credence to it being a valid solution.
I do also understand that can be misused, so I don't know if one outweighs the other.

Other forum platforms have this and you can give "reactions" such as Like, or Laugh, etc. I do like this and agree it would be good here also.
I also see some that track that for a user, so you can see how many posts and how many reactions a user has. Not sure if that last part is needed.
OTOH, it may not be a function of the software platform used here.
