Actually the spice cabinet is right there on the left end of counter very near the stove so I don't get the one comment about it being unhandy. It is a very sweet spice cabinet that holds everything like even the salt box. I love it. We have a very large family and love our 3400. One caution, you do need to put down pads and things to protect from very hot dishes and pans. The counter top is probably meltable to some degree. Also can't pour boiling water down the drain. We keep lots of cutting boards handy for hot dishes and crock pots to sit on, just as a precaution.
