Not sure this is of any help, but I vaguely remember reading a post by Bob Rohrman about changing his gear packs. IIRC, there are 2 different gear packs with a different number of teeth depending upon which one you have. If you have to change the gear pack, make sure you get the right ones. I think I also remember something about being able to adjust the rod to align the gears better and make the slide run true.
