I have the 5th Airborne pin box and I like it, although it will make the 5er porpoise a little in road conditions that have bumps at some specific interval.

You can adjust the air pressure of the air bag to change the "feel" of the motion to suit your preferences. It does significantly reduce the pounding that the frame at the front of the rig would see with a pin box that does not have any vertical motion, like a solid pin box or the MOR/ryde which only has horizontal cushioning.

The 5th Airborne does not have any direct lateral cushioning, but it converts forward and rearward forces into vertical motion, which absorbs those to negate chucking felt in the tow vehicle.

I feel that the vertical pounding that the frame sees with a solid or MOR/ryde pin box is a big contributor to frame flex and weld failures, along with sub-standard weld penetration that occasionally occurs in the fabrication of the frames.

I think that I got my 5th Airborne from Tweety's RV
