When buying our F250 Super Duty, we were told the same thing about AZ. Therefore we installed an alarm that goes off: 1. Open a door or touch the vehicle 2. Break a window 3. Open the hood 4. open the tail gate 5. cut any electrical connection. The system has its own power source and even if you cut the wire to the siren, it also has a self contained power source that you have to turn off with a separate key. When the alarm sounds it shuts off the starter, sounds the horn, siren, strobe lights, headlights and tail lights, and takes pictures of everything in the cab of the truck. These pictures are then sent to my key fob and can be transfered to my computer. The range for the transmitter is 1500 ft line of sight. Nice system for $300. We tried to remove a tire and the motion was enought to set off the alarm.
