Thanks for the advice. I tried disconnecting the water line and cleaning as much as would reach with a cue tip, seems like it might have gotten a little better. I saw Judy's comment on "banging on the commode" and others mentioning cediment buildup in another thread. So, I tapped gently around the perimeter of the valve with a small tack hammer a number of times and voila !!! a steady stream of water just like new.
I did notice particles that might have been sawdust but who knows...
