There are different options for getting tours. Some start at Hells Canyon Dam and go down stream, I can’t remember how far but I think either Pittsburgh Landing or the confluence of the Salmon River. Some start in Lewiston and others start at Hellers Bar and go up river. Camp grounds in Lewiston, Clayton area and at Pittsburgh, primitive at Hellers Bar. There are two sections of the canyon, Scenic is above Pittsburgh Landing and the Wild is below Pittsburgh. Boats are only allowed in the Wild area every other week if I remember correctly, depending on time of the year. Only a few guide boats go above Pittsburgh into the bigger rapids.
I would highly recommend Snake River Adventures owned by Luther. His Buggy boat goes all the way up through the big stuff. Some trips are 1/2 day, others are 1 day and yet others are multiple day trips. There are some I would advise against but I won’t say their name on the Forum. I have personally never been on the tour boats which range from good sized boats to huge three engine giants. I used to take my boat up there and also used to go every opportunity in my buddies boat. In mine it was for four or five day trips and his was a haul ass up to the dam and back in a day. This time of year the River is really skinny and shallow compared to the early summer high water stuff.
Sorry to ramble but HElls Canyon is a place you will never forget.
Feel free to PM me if you want.
