Hi Bob,
That sounds like it is on a little too much. The last time I was using the unit in the cold, it seemed to me it would come on every 3/4 of an hour or so. Maybe a little Electric heat would help. I know its not hard to go through a 30 lb propane tank in 4 or 5 days, when it's cold.
