One difference it appears between the two is that the ASMOKE is a PID controller. I've never owned a pellet grill, so I don't know if that's necessary or not. The ASMOKE comes with a temp probe too. That would be handy for smoking, but a wired temp probe works too, its just one more thing you have to take, though...
