Wow, just up to 2 pages of discussion after over two weeks on the weight issue and SRW vs DRW. I am shocked!

When you first get that new fiver you are looking at and pull it home without all the stuff you could probably pull it across the scales, plug those numbers into the formula and be within limits. After a season of camping and adding everything you will more than likely be over on gross or at least on your drive axle.

We were full time with a 2012 F350 SRW with the 6.7. After the first year I had to start deciding what stuff I needed to get rid of to stay within limits. I never wanted the issue of parking a 8' bed dual wheel truck in restaurant or shopping store parking lots. Anyone that tells you it is never an issue is not being completely honest. However, that being said in hindsight I should have started with DRW on an F350 in order to consistently safely tow the weight without constantly putting the fiver on a diet.
