Never even gave it a thought and I've been doing it for years. Our previous 5er was 8 or so years old when we traded and all tanks were fine. One of the main ingredients in hair color is peroxide (stronger than you use on wounds) and that sure is not going to hurt anything. I think Jim is correct that it would be very diluted anyway. We have traveled a lot in the past 15 years and I've gone to salons in strange towns and had some not so good experiences so I prefer to do my own. One time a park manager recommended her beautician. This woman had bright orange hair! I passed.
