Seems the newer strains are more contagious but less virulent. If we get new strains that are more contagious AND more virulent we could be worse off than when this all started. A moving target much like the yearly changing flu strains.

The “pandemic over” statement surprised me since my wife and I and 3 different friends all got covid in the last 3 months. And none of us had been around each other in 6 months or more so we all got it from different sources. And the 7 day rolling average of deaths still runs between 400 and 500. That’s still a lot of people dying for no longer a pandemic.
