The 16K is within spec for a 15,500 lbs trailer, but I have to say if I were starting over, I would go to the 18K.
Reese has a brand new Select Plus 18K hitch that uses the Signature Series head on top of the standard above bed rail assembly. It is only a few hundred difference and has a much better locking mechanism as well as providing an additional safety margin.
I had a hard time finding a dealer that new about it, but if they contact Reese - it's available now.
