Well, some time has passed since this thread started and maybe we've all learned something new here. I certainly have.
We got ours back from the dealer repair shop. They said it "could" be 3 weeks after we drooped off the camper and they called 2 weeks and 6 days later. So, at least they kept their promise and I did have it back after 3 weeks.
So, I've been watching the new cable carefully, and noticed a few days ago it's starting to get some slack in it. I guess the new cable is stretching a little. So today I tightened it. And then decided to actually get a ladder, climb up and check all the rest too. Ended up tightening a second one.
So now I know. These will be on my routine check list now to inspect and just not take for granted and wait for another "boing!!!!!" to happen.
This thread was / is a great topic. I learned a lot, watched a lot of you tube videos and hopefully, I'll never have another cable break. But in the mean time, I'm going to order the repair kit and be prepared.
